Sarnia-Lambton patients were given the opportunity for the seventh year in a row to nominate their physician for a Patients’ Choice Award. Of the 50 patient nominations received, a patient jury recognized Dr. Brian Hynes, Dr. Cynthia Arnold and Dr. William Buckton for the exceptional care they have provided and for their commitment to enhancing the patients’ overall experience within the healthcare system.
“The Patients’ Choice Awards give our citizens an opportunity to recognize their physicians who have provided them with exceptional patient-centred care,” said Dr. Mike Haddad, chief of Professional Staff. “Congratulations to the award recipients, and thank you to the individuals who took the time to nominate a local physician.”
Dr. Cynthia Arnold is a family physician who has practiced in Sarnia since 1986 and Dr. Brian Hynes is an Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck who has practiced in Sarnia since 1989. In their nomination, patients commented that Dr. Arnold and Dr. Hynes displayed impeccable teamwork in coordinating appointments together and were patient, professional, empathetic and quick to respond to their issues. Patients say that both doctors go well beyond their call of duty to meet the urgent needs of their patients.
Dr. William Buckton has practiced in Sarnia and Lambton County since 1970. In his nomination, patients commented that Dr. Buckton is the ideal family physician as he provides a highly personal approach to patient care by treating his patients with kindness, respect, and empathy. Dr. Buckton received an overwhelming amount of support by receiving the most nominations for a family physician.
Dr. Shawn Whatley, president of the Ontario Medical Association, extended his congratulations on the three doctors who were recognized.
“The care these physicians provide, along with many other healthcare practitioners, contributes to improving patient care in Sarnia-Lambton,” he said.
