Traffic stop and subsequent search warrant results in drug bust

A vehicle top by Sarnia Police Wednesday evening (Dec. 12) has resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old Sarnia woman who faces charges of possession of cocaine and marijuana, both for the purpose of trafficking.

The woman was stopped on Lakeshore Road just west of Modeland Road around 9 p.m.

Following the initial traffic stop, police said they had enough evidence to seek a search warrant of the woman's residence, which is in the 600 block of Errol Road West. That search, with the woman in custody, was conducted just after midnight.

Police say they seized just over 61 grams of cocaine (street value of approximately $6,700) and more than 87 grams of marijuana (street value of more than $800) as well as more than $800 in cash.

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
