Upcoming ISO holiday concert is coming soon

'Christmas Moods and Magic' takes place in Canada on Saturday, December 1 at Temple Baptist Church, a day earlier in Michigan

Area audiences will experience a joyful start to the holiday season when the International Symphony Orchestra presents their traditional Festive
Celebration, “Christmas Moods & Magic.”

The gala events will take place Friday, November 30th, 7:30 p.m. at Hillside Wesleyan Church in Clyde Township, Mich. and Saturday, December 1st, 7:30 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Sarnia.

Under the baton of Maestro Douglas Bianchi, the International Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Singers, and special guest mezzo-soprano Erin Fisher will be featured in these popular seasonal performances.

Selections will include segments from Handel’s Christmastime monument The Messiah, a must for seasonal concerts, with selected arias performed with Erin Fisher; Tchaikovsky’s beloved The Nutcracker Ballet Suite No.1; Puccini’s operatic and lovely Messa di Gloria; Bennett/Shaw’s The Many Moods of Christmas; and Michael Conway Baker’s delightful One Magic Christmas.

Mezzo Erin Fisher is well known to ISO audiences since her stunning appearance last season as part of the highly-acclaimed cross-over ensemble, ViVA Trio. Erin was a Canadian Opera Company soloist at just 21 years of age. She has performed across North America and Europe in over 20 operatic roles, including works by Mozart, Rossini and Vivaldi, and continues to tour and record with the internationally successful ViVA Trio.

Among other selections for these presentations with the ISO, she will perform Christmas-themed works by Wagner and Barber; ISO resident composer Charles Stephens’ arrangements of modern Christmas favourites; and excerpts from Handel’s Messiah.
