It is with immense sadness and broken hearts we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, Brett Verslype, who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the age of 43. Brett was the most loving and devoted husband of Jennifer (n. Kelly), cherished and adored father of Jack and Lilly and Beano (family pet). Beloved son of Valentine Verslype and the late Roger Verslype (Audrey Herbstreit). Loved brother of Jim (Heather) Verslype and Ken Verslype. Dear nephew of Solange (Norm) DeMeyer and Jerry (the late Joyce) Verslype. He will forever be remembered by his many friends, including his closest; Dean, Glenn, Colin, Matt, Wade, Matthew, Derek, Jeff B, Ian, Jeff D., his many colleagues and students at the Thames Valley District School Board, his nieces, nephews and extended family. Brett was a dedicated teacher who put his heart and soul into his work. He was easy going, laughed often and gave you permission to be silly while reminding you not to sweat the small stuff. He loved sports, especially hockey. Brett couldn’t get enough of the West Coast and outdoor living and loved all things nature. Music moved his soul, but his passion was his family. We will forever miss his spirit.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 16, 2018 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held to celebrate Brett’s life on Saturday, February, 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
