Woman arrested for drunk driving early Saturday morning

Sarnia Police say they stopped a driver in the early hours of Saturday morning, eventually discovering a 23-year-old city woman was more than double the legal limit.

The incident, which police say occurred around 1 a.m., began when an officer on general patrol observed a motor vehicle on westbound London Line near the construction area under the Modeland Road overpass.

The vehicle was going at least 20 k/ph under the posted speed. When the vehicle went out of its designated lane then suddenly jerked back, the officer initiated a traffic stop.

The driver was arrested and a breath sample provided at police headquarters indicated she had been driving while drunk. She faces charges related to the drunk driving and will appear in court on Sept. 4.
