Woods, Grace, (Feb. 1, 2018)

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, after a lengthy illness and with heartfelt sorrow, our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, GRACE WOODS (nee MacDermid), 83 years, of Petrolia, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at C.E.E. Hospital of Bluewater Health, Petrolia. She was born on June 10, 1934 in Moore Township. Grace worked for many years in the town of Petrolia, beginning at age 15, the longest time at Big V Drugstore in Petrolia often referred to as the lady with the bun in her hair. She volunteered and worshiped at First Baptist Church in Petrolia for many years, maintaining her devotion and faith to God. Volunteering at Moore Museum for over 15 years, were she brought her loving touches and humorous adventures. Mom had a deeply loving heart, a great sense of humour and often was the instigator of a joke. Grace was predeceased by her parents, William and Martha (nee Firby) MacDermid, brothers Archie MacDermid, Don (Ella) MacDermid, and Bill (Dolores) MacDermid. Grace is survived by her daughters, Sylvia (Dwain) Firth, Anita (Gerald) Murray, and Linda Woods, and grandchildren Christopher (Samantha) Richardson, John (Gabrielle) Richardson, Sarah (Rob) Pierson, Lisa Richie, Brian (Amanda) Murray, and Kyle Murray and great-grandchildren, Bradley, Jarred, Abby, and Blake Pierson and Grace, Joseph, Nymeria and Percy Richardson. She was a dear and loving friend to Joan Sinclair, Bev Woolover, Marilyn Bullock, and Colleen McLean. And for the special care they gave mom, we would like to thank Karen, Tara, and Diane and all those loving friends who were so dear to our Mother. Visitors will be received by the family on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 4059 Petrolia Line, Petrolia, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
